The Bartın and Neighborhoods History & Culture Research & Application Center (BAYTAM) was established under the Rectorate of Bartın University as of March 31, 2013, in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547, as amended by Law No. 2880, following the decision taken at the meeting of the Council of Higher Education dated February 27, 2013.

The establishment of the Center was formalized with the publication of its Regulation in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Türkiye, dated March 31, 2013, and numbered 28604.
